Fallout 3 kicked ass

I've spent the past two months playing Fallout 3 almost every night for at least a half hour, and I finally completed the game. I never stopped anywhere in between to write this review because I actually wanted to finish the game in order to give my full assessment of it. In short, it really is one of the best PC games ever made, but the ending was a letdown. This game is also available for the PS3 and Xbox 360, but the PC version is supposed to be the best.

This game is set in a futuristic Washington D.C. that has been obliterated by a nuclear holocaust. There are some survivors living up on the surface in a world that looks something like a cross between the wild west and the Mel Gibson movie The Road Warrior or Mad Max. Your character happens to be one of the few lucky people who grew up in an underground vault with a handful of others who retreated there after the holocaust. When your father goes missing one day, you follow him out to the surface, and there your adventure begins.

Call of Duty 5: World at War - Game Guide

Over the past few weeks, I've been playing the hell out of Call of Duty 5: World at War, and writing about my accomplishments in the game. What I did was write down a list of each Challenge type in the game, then write a little about how I accomplished them. As of right now, I haven't found anything else like it on the web.

CoD5 Challenges:
  1. Boot Camp
  2. Operations
  3. Vehicles
  4. Killer
  5. Field Specialist
  6. Humiliation
  7. Elite

Enjoy!

CoD5 Technical Problems...solved!

It took me two days to get Call of Duty 5: World at War to let me play online, but I finally figured out how to get it working. Like most everybody else, I was getting 'Can not connect to online service' errors just trying to log in, then I would get 'Server authentication failure' after refreshing the list of servers to play online.

At Brighthub.com, I wrote an article on how to solve those CoD5 errors and I hope it can help you also play online. Good luck!

On a side note, I think this game is really good, but not quite as good as Call of Duty 4. I think maybe I'm just tired of World War II era shooters.

COD5 Issues!

Last night, I spent $49.99 of my hard-earned cash on Call of Duty: World at War, which is also known as Call of Duty 5. I bought the game specifically to play online, and guess what? I could not play online. Apparently, there have been ongoing issues with people getting an error that says 'Can not connect to online service' when trying to go into Multiplayer. I know the game is brand new and maybe they are working some kinks out, but this is a really crappy way to get things started after Call of Duty 4 was such a hit.

Stuff like this is killing the PC game industry. People are tired of spending money on games that don't work!

Use your PS3 Sixaxis controller on a Windows PC!

I finally figured out how to make my Sony Sixaxis controller from my PlayStation 3 work on my Windows Vista PC! There's two different ways you can do it, or rather two different sets of drivers to use, and one worked while the other did not. I was able to play a game with it and the controls work just fine!

Whether you use XP or Vista, check out my article at Brighthub.com for instructions on how to configure either one. There's no need to buy any kind of adapter when you can do it for free!

PlayStation Store Downloadable Game Reviews

If you have a Sony PlayStation 3 and online access, there are quite a few games you can download direct to the hard drive of your PS3. I've bought several from the PlayStation Store, and reviewed most of them for Brighthub.com. Check them out:
  • High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition - This is probably the best PS3 download game out there, and it offers a ton of value for the money.
  • Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3 - Remember the old NES game, Commando? This is part 3 of the series, and actually quite fun on the PS3.
  • 1942: Joint Strike - This is a remake of the classic NES game, 1942, and you can play online with other people. It's a tough game, though.
  • Q-Bert - This is a fairly crappy remake of the old Atari game. It's only $4.99, but there is not much to it unless you just loved the original.
  • Rampart - Don't waste your money on this one. The controls simply don't work.

Pain and the Amusement Park add-on for the PS3

When I bought my PlayStation 3, it came with a free download code to get a game called Pain. It's a freaky little game where you put a guy on a catapult and toss him out into this city where you score points for using his body to smash stuff. It plays sort of like a puzzle game.

Just recently, an expansion pack for it came out called Amusement Park, and it is even better than the original game. You have a bigger area to explore, plus I've already a bunch of easter eggs included by the developer. If you liked Pain, I think this add-on is worth having for $5.99.

Both of these games, and more, can be downloaded from the PlayStation Store.
